ABOUT ME
Ali
I have been a Primary teacher for over 20 years, the vast majority of that in EYFS and KS1. Working in predominantly small schools meant that I had mixed age classes, mostly Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. This means I got to teach phonics at least twice a day! As Reading Lead I was able to develop a system of reading intervention that helped to smooth bumps in the road when children were finding reading difficult and develop fluency for children who were stuck at a “reading but not enjoying it” hurdle.
I have a passion for teaching reading. To me it is the foundation of all other learning, opening doors to subjects and worlds that we are passionate about and developing leaders and life-long learners that are confident and fulfilled in their wider life.
MY TUTORING METHOD

Phonics
It all starts by learning the code to decipher words using letters and associated sounds.

Fluency
Next, you’ll be able to decode at a glance and read whole words so quickly that the text starts to have meaning.

Comprehension
The last step? We learn to think about the meaning of the whole sentence as we read quickly. This is what opens doors to a whole new world of meaning!
